Rockland Community College Stone Building

stone building 1

The Stone Building, which was constructed in the early part of the 20th century, is a former industrial building that is located in the heart of downtown Haverstraw.    New uses for this iconic building were considered and EMWPC was hired to transform this 40,000 square foot structure into a mixed use building which included a satellite campus for Rockland Community College and a regional antique and design center.

This gut rehabilitation required complete renovation including interiors, mechanical systems, structural alterations and improvements to the building façade.  A critical aspect of this project was the preservation of the unique appearance of this village landmark. To accomplish this, we specified the use of large industrial windows and repair to the original stone façade.

The scope of work also included planning, programming, SEQR and village approvals.
